INTRODUCTION
------------
Dogpound is a fun (and addictive) game DOOR for Bulletin Board
systems; it is easy to learn and will keep your callers
involved for quite some time. The first caller to catch
$100.000.00 worth of dogs is the winner. The door then
automatically resets, so, once set up it runs itself!
FEATURES
--------
- ANSI Color and High Score Bulletins
- Full multi-node support
- Support for locked DTE up to 115K bps
- Support for non-standard com ports
- DESQview aware
- Easy installation and no maintenance
- Complete playing instructions from within the game
- Chat with Callers
REGISTRATION
------------
To Register Dogpound just read Register.frm.
Benefits of Registering:
1/ You'll sleep well at night!(grin)
2/ Your Name & BBS Name replace the Unregistered Notice.
3/ Elimination of the unregistered delay.
4/ Discount price on my next Door game.
5/ Full access to my BBS.
SETUP
-----
Setup is very simple. Create a directory and unzip all of the
files into this directory. You will then need to edit the
Dogpound.cfg file to reflect your setup.
Each field in the Dogpound.cfg file is described below:
Line 1....The complete path and name of your bbs drop file
This file is created when your bbs runs a door program.
EX: C:\SF\DOOR.SYS
Line 2....The Name of Your BBS
EX: Holden Hollow BBS
Line 3....Your(the sysop's) First Name
EX: Dave
Line 4....Your(the sysop's) Last Name
EX: Anderson
That's all there is to it! This File, Dogpound.cfg must be in the
same Directory as the rest of the Dogpound files.
Now to run the door just use a command line of:
Dogpound Dogpound.cfg
See your BBS Manual for the specific way your bbs sofware runs
door programs.
If you want to run the Game locally, without a bbs then just
unzip the files into a directory called C:\Dogpound and then
run Local.bat. This will enable you to try the door out before
installing it on your bbs.
There is a small text file Dogtips.txt which contains
hints on how to win at the door. You may wish to make
this available to your callers for downloading.
Dogpound supports any of the following BBS drop
files and any BBS which creates them. Simply put
YOUR drop file and its path on the 1st line of
Dogpound.cfg. (EX: C:\TRIBBS\TRIBBS.SYS)
1 = PCBOARD.SYS 6 = DORINFOx.DEF
2 = USERS.SYS 7 = SFDOORS.DAT
3 = DOOR.SYS 8 = USERINFO.DAT
4 = CALLINFO.BBS 9 = GTUSER.BBS
5 = TRIBBS.SYS
BULLETINS
The game creates both Ansi and Ascii Bulletins that you can
use on your bbs. If you want the Bulletins just include the
following in the Batch file that you use to call the door. Put
it right after the command line.
Ansi: Copy Dogpoung.blt C:\sf\display\Bullet1.clr(or whatever
Your BBS software calls the colour bulletins)
Ascii: Copy Dogpound.blt C:\sf\display\Bullet1.bbs(or whatever
Your BBS sofware calls the non-colour bulletins)
Fossil Driver Support
---------------------
Dogpound supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell your Door to use the
Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
line when running the door. For example:
DOGPOUND DOGPOUND.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
driver is detected, Dogpound will print a message to that effect and exit
the door gracefully.
Environment Variables
---------------------
Dogpound supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
number after the configuration filename.
If you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
passed to your Door would be:
DOGPOUND DOGPOUND.CFG /5 or
DOGPOUND DOGPOUND.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
The /5 tells Dogpound to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
******NOTE*******
Instead of the /5 or /%IRQ% you can substitute and * for the / especially
running Novell.
When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the Dogpound.CFG
file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
PCBoard:
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
Wildcat!:
USERINFO.DAT in C:\WC\NODE1 - C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%
Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
SET PCBDRIVE=C:
SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
SET PCBNODE=1
486DX CPU's
-----------
The math coprocessor in 486DX CPUs cannot handle floating point math which
all MicroSoft Basic's use. This can show up as an ERROR 5, a keyb
